Lottery Wins O2's Cowdry

January 15 2013

In the UK, mobile network O2 has lost its Marketing and Consumer Director Sally Cowdry to National Lottery operator Camelot, where she will take the same title, with a role including consumer insight. She joins her new employer in 'a few months' after helping O2 with the transition.

New Home for CowdryCowdry replaces former Marketing Director Richard Bateson, now Camelot's Commercial Director, and will oversee the firm's c.£100m National Lottery marketing budget. She has worked at O2 and forerunner company BT Cellnet for more than thirteen years, and drove the company's move to sponsor the Millennium Dome as well as the recent 'Gurus' campaign and roll-out and the launch of O2 Sport. She joined in 1999 after jobs at BAA and Stena Line.

An O2 spokesman said the firm is currently searching for a replacement, 'both externally and within the Telefónica group'. The statement added: 'We want to thank Sally for everything she has done for O2 and our brand over the last 13 years. We wish her all the very best with her new opportunity at Camelot.'
