January 18 2013

GfK MRI Chief Executive Kathi Love is stepping down from her role on 15th February, in order to pursue her interest in psychology and sociology.

Kathi LoveFounded in 1979, GfK MRI (known as Mediamark Research and Intelligence until its takeover by GfK in 2005) provides magazine audience ratings, multimedia research data and insights into consumers' behaviour and motivations. It is also known for its national Survey of the American Consumer, which interviews US adults to examine their use of media alongside their consumption of products, their lifestyles and their attitudes.

Love (pictured) joined in 2000, prior to which she was VP, Market Research and Advertising Planning at EMAP Peterson Publishing; VP, Research at Magazine Publishers of America; and Research Director of The New York Times, where she worked for more than fourteen years. After graduating with a BA in Psychology from Rutgers, an MA in Social Psychology from Michigan State University, and an ABD in Environmental Psychology at City University of New York, Love served as Research Director for the Project for Public Spaces.

In a letter to clients, she said she was 'blessed' to be able to leave her corporate responsibilities behind and pursue an area she has wanted to focus on for decades.

Until a replacement President and CEO is appointed, Chief Research Officer Julian Baim and Chief Operating Officer Ian Jack will act as co-Presidents.
