uTest Launches 'Applause' App Testing Tool

February 1 2013

Technology testing firm uTest has launched a service called Applause, which it claims provides analysis of more than 50 million reviews across one million iOS and Android apps, to enable brands to measure how an app stacks up against the competition.

Doron ReuveniuTest has access to a community of 70,000 testers from 190 countries, who assess devices under real-world conditions. Applause, which will be spun out of uTest as an independent brand, has been developed by its uTest Labs research arm, which is focused on the development, testing and measurement of apps.

The new solution combines online reviews and ratings from across the net to provide each app with an 'Applause Score' on a scale of 1-100. This is then broken down across ten 'Applause Attributes', which include the relevance of an app's content across locations and cultures, how fast and responsive an app is in standard usage, and how attractive or 'cool' the design is.

Doron Reuveni (pictured), CEO and co-founder of uTest, comments: 'It's time we entered a new phase of maturity in how companies measure their mobile efforts. With Applause, we're enabling companies to go well beyond simple download counts and star ratings to understand app quality in a deeper way, which is why we've had such tremendous feedback from early users.'
