Hepburn to Leave SPA for Engineering MD Role

SPA Future Thinking Group Managing Director Richard Hepburn is to leave the company to become Divisional MD at engineering and environmental testing business ALcontrol Laboratories.

ALcontrol has a £120m turnover and is backed by private equity.

Earlier in his career Hepburn worked at retailer John Menzies Plc and at Menzies World Cargo for seven years. In 2006 he co-led a Management Buy-In of Munro Global, using venture capital, and then spent five years as the Chief Exec of Munro, which included agencies FDS International, Maven Research, M-Lab, acefieldwork (sold in 2010) and 3000ft Strategic Insight. Munro itself was then sold to SPA Future Thinking in April 2011.

SPA FT Chief Executive Jon Priest says he is 'absolutely delighted' for Hepburn. He comments: 'Richard has been pivotal in helping SPA Future Thinking move forward and his tenure as Group MD here has been vital in ensuring the business has continued to integrate and grow. We wish him every success in his new role.'

Hepburn himself says he has 'worked with, and met, some great people in market research', but adds: 'My new role takes me almost full circle in engaging with the Civil and Environmental Engineering industry, having graduated and started my career in this sector.'
