TIBCO Buys Maporama for Geolocation Data

Californian enterprise software firm TIBCO has acquired French location intelligence provider Maporama Solutions, in order to add geolocation capabilities to its big data analytics service. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Lars BauerleMaporama combines geographic information and business intelligence to add value to enterprise data, assist decision making, optimize resource allocation, and help match supply with demand. CEO Matthieu Bouteiller says the firm's geovisualization and location-analytics solutions will add a visual, interactive experience to TIBCO's Spotfire in-memory analytics software, enabling users to discover new insights in their data.

Lars Bauerle (pictured), VP TIBCO Spotfire Product Strategy, explains: 'With 80% of business data having a location component, wide global adoption of mobile devices, and an increasing need for real-time information, enterprises are seizing new opportunities around customer loyalty, transportation and supply chain efficiency. We are excited about these new powerful geospatial capabilities.'

As part of the transaction, the entire Maporama team joins TIBCO.
