WorldOne Secures $35m for Physician Community

Healthcare research specialist WorldOne has secured $35m in funding, most of which it will use to expand its Sermo online physician community.

Sermo, which was acquired by WorldOne last summer, has 130,000 members and its own discussion and crowdsourcing platform. The latest funding, from healthcare-focused investment fund manager Deerfield Management Company, will allow WorldOne to expand the platform as a destination for physicians to participate in market research, collaborate with their peers and compete in medical challenges.

WorldOne CEO Peter Kirk (pictured) comments: 'With the Sermo acquisition to complement our innovative engagement product portfolio and global reach to over one million physicians, we had the core ingredients to build a much needed interactive destination for physicians around the world. With this recent round of funding, we now have the necessary resources to execute against that grand vision.'
