MarkLogic Raises $25m for Big Data Expansion

April 10 2013

MarkLogic, which has developed a database platform for big data applications, has raised $25m in growth capital, and says it will use the cash to meet demand for its enterprise NoSQL technology.

Gary BloomMarkLogic has headquarters in Silicon Valley and offices in Austin, New York, Washington DC, Frankfurt, London and Tokyo. The firm's software manages and searches structured, semi-structured and unstructured data, giving clients access to it through applications and analytics tools.

CEO Gary Bloom (pictured) comments: 'Enterprise customers are discovering that the relational databases they have relied on for years are not flexible and agile enough to manage complex and varied data formats that are required for modern applications, Today, MarkLogic Server is the only NoSQL database with the enterprise features that CIOs require.'

The new financing has been led by Sequoia Capital and Tenaya Capital, with participation from Northgate Capital, and with Bloom also making a personal investment in this financing round. This new capital brings the total raised to $71.2m.
