Millward Brown Names New Mumbai MD

Millward Brown has appointed Surekha Poddar as Managing Director in charge of its Mumbai operation - the firm's largest in South Asia. She replaces Muder Chiba, who is leaving 'to pursue other interests'.

Surekha PoddarPoddar (pictured) joins with more than twenty years' experience in marketing, research and management. Most recently, she worked at Nielsen India as Executive Director - Consumer Research, prior to which she was VP - Consumer Insights and Market Research at telecoms firm Bharti Airtel. Earlier in her career, she worked for Millward Brown in Singapore as Regional Director - Loyalty Solution, was a VP in IMRB's CSMM division, and served as General Manager of Asian Information Marketing & Social Research (AIMS).

In her new role, Poddar will report to recently appointed South Asia MD Prasun Basu, who comments: 'I am delighted to welcome Surekha to the Millward Brown family again. Her extensive experience will provide our clients and employees with a partner and trusted advisor who truly understands the important role research plays in building strong brands and making a meaningful impact in driving businesses forward.'

Chiba is leaving the firm after more than four years, having previously held senior roles at TNS India, NFO in Sri Lanka, and Admar Research.

Basu adds: 'I would like to say a big thank you to Muder for his leadership of the Mumbai operation and as a member of the India Management team. He was instrumental in leading the Mumbai unit with the fastest growth within India. I wish him the very best in future.'
