YouEye Raises $3m for Remote UX Tools

In the US, remote usability testing specialist YouEye has raised $3m from angel investors, and plans to develop existing and new products, while expanding into new markets. The firm has also released the beta version of a user experience solution called Insite.

YouEye's service provides companies with access to a pool of testers - categorised by specific demographics such as age, gender, education level etc - who provide remote feedback about web sites from their own homes. Technology includes webcam eye tracking and face recognition tools which the firm says can identify more than 50,000 micro-expressions in order to detect how users feel when they browse a site.

Angel investors in this funding round include Saba Software founder Bobby Yazdania, Brian McClendon, the co-founder of Keyhole (now Google Earth), and Beth McClendon, as well as a number of unnamed backers.

The Insite tool allows clients to invite visitors to their site to participate in usability studies, and then gather their responses through recorded audio feedback.
