Obama's Former Director of Data Re-joins NOI

June 5 2013

President Obama's former Director of Data Ethan Roeder has returned to political training specialist New Organizing Institute (NOI) as Executive Director, replacing co-founder Judith Freeman who left at the end of March.

Ethan RoederThe Washington D.C. organization provides training programs for Democratic campaign organizers, including sessions on how to track and manage data and measure a campaign's progress over time, plus how to track early vote data in order to understand voter intention.

Roeder (pictured) re-joins NOI after managing the data for Obama's 2008 and 2012 presidential campaigns, during which time he built a national data team of more than 100 full-time staff, and worked with the analytics and tech departments on areas such as the architecture of data pipelines and data sourcing. Prior to this, he served as Director of Data, Technology and Election Administration at the NOI, where he worked on the Voting Information Project - a collaboration between Google, the Pew Center, Engage and the NOI.

He has taken over from Freeman, who is taking some time off, but will retain her seat on NOI's Board.
