Unruly Opens 'Social Video Lab' in NYC

June 13 2013

London-based video ad distribution and tracking platform Unruly has opened a 'Social Video Lab' in New York, to enable companies to benchmark their social media videos against those of their competitors.

Sarah WoodSince it was set up in 2006, Unruly has tracked 329 billion video views using its proprietary RAMP (Real-time Amplification and Measurement Platform). In April, the firm released an analytics dashboard through which brands and agencies can measure the impact of their social media video strategies against their competitors'.

Visitors to the New York lab will be given a 'hands-on interactive journey' through the science of online video sharing. They will also have access to Unruly's portfolio of technology products and services, to help them find out how their current social video footprint compares with their competitors', how to create shareable content, and how to determine the distribution strategy required to achieve their campaign goals.

Additionally, visitors will be able to test the 'shareability' of their own campaigns using Unruly ShareRank, a tool which uses more than 10,000 data points to predict the number of shares a video will attract, prior to launch.

COO and co-founder Sarah Wood (pictured) explains: 'Our experience, coupled with our proprietary technology and real-time social video analytics, will give brands access to the kind of detailed consumer insights they need to fulfil their potential when it comes to social video. Brands can use the lab experience to pinpoint exactly what's trending, and we can advise advertisers on how to pounce on the hottest trends before they become mainstream, and how they can utilize this insight to generate meaningful paid and earned media.'
