Lumi Mobile Buys Interactive Voting System IML

June 13 2013

In the UK, consumer insight technology firm Lumi Mobile is to acquire Computershare subsidiary IML, which specialises in audience response and voting systems. The deal will be funded by Lumi's existing shareholders, but other terms were not disclosed.

Richard TaylorFounded in 1991 and acquired by Computershare in 2005, IML (Interactive Meetings Limited) provides proprietary audience engagement solutions for annual meetings and events globally. The company's proprietary tools enable audience interaction through conversation, texting, voting and content sharing; and capture and analyse the resulting data for audience insight.

Earlier this year, Lumi expanded into the meetings and events market with the launch of a communications app called Join In, based on the firm's real-time Lumi Live platform. The firm says buying IML will further enhance its offerings to existing market research clients as well as those in the meetings industry.

IML's former CEO Richard Taylor (pictured) joined Lumi Mobile in 2011, and will remain as CEO of the enlarged group. Commenting on the acquisition, Taylor said: 'This is a unique opportunity to bring together two exceptional technology companies with patented processes that complement each other enormously. This acquisition creates an integrated technology business defined by global scale, market penetration and high quality client service across our key sectors of market research and live meetings and events.'
