NASSCOM Sets Up Big Data Interest Group

Indian software trade body NASSCOM has set up a Special Interest Group (SIG) for big data, and says it aims to help the country become the global hub for the sector.

Son MittalNASSCOM (the National Association of Software and Services Companies) was established in 1988 to facilitate the advancement of research in software technology, and headquartered in New Delhi with regional offices in Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Pune and Kolkata.

Early members of the new group include professionals from Absolut Data, Accenture, Cognizant, Dell, Honeywell, Fractal Analytics and Genpact, as well as individuals from academia.

Association President Son Mittal (pictured) explains: 'The primary role of this interest group will be to help increase the visibility and relevance of the analytics in Indian context. It will consult and equip analytics providers with capabilities to deliver analytics projects successfully, to address the talent gap for meeting burgeoning demand, and to get answers to specific issues plaguing the adoption of analytics in the near short term and long term.'
