ABI Hires Former Blackberry Market Intelligence Leader

Global connectivity and emerging technologies specialist ABI Research has hired Nick Spencer as Senior Practice Director, with a focus on mobile device hardware and software, go-to-market strategy, and mobile developer ecosystems.

Spencer brings more than thirteen years of experience in mobile technology research and marketing, most recently from BlackBerry where he managed the market intelligence team in EMEA for nearly five years. Before this he was an industry analyst at Canalys, focused on smartphones, and at Yankee Group studying enterprise mobility software.

ABI's Chief Research Officer Stuart Carlaw says Spencer's strategic and tactical insight will fit well with the firm's new tactical tools, such as Device Portal. He adds: 'Nick has a wealth of experience, both from the analyst perspective but also from the vendor community side, which will enable him to guide key parts of our mobility coverage to new levels of value for our clients.'
