Datacratic Opens in New York, Hires Three

Canadian software company Datacratic, which analyses and models real-time data on consumer behavior, has opened an office in New York City. The company has also made three senior hires.

Montreal-based Datacratic (originally founded as Recoset in 2010) applies real-time machine learning and predictive modeling to big data generated from consumer behavior, and creates a 'causal model' that ranks users' likelihood to take action.

In the New York office, Alex Becker joins as Head of Product Management and Mark Weiss as Head of Client Solutions and Sales Engineering. Becker most recently served as Senior Director of Media Strategy and Analytics at data management platform [x+1], prior to which he worked at IBM and Research In Motion.

Weiss joins with more than fifteen years' experience as a software engineer and engineering team leader. He was previously VP of Engineering at search retargeting company Magnetic, and prior to that was Associate Director of Architecture at Wireless Generation.

In addition, Philippe Gauvin takes up the role of Head of Account Management and Customer Experience, based in Montreal. He previously founded matchFWD, a recruiting platform using NLP and social data to connect employers with candidates, and he spent the last twelve years in software engineering and product management roles at the Yellow Pages Group, Bentley Systems and BroadSign.
