NICE to Buy Customer Targeting Firm Causata

August 9 2013

Israel-based customer engagement analytics specialist NICE is to acquire San Mateo, CA-based behavioral big data targeting technology firm Causata. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Paul WahlCausata was founded in 2009 by Paul Phillips, who previously set up London-based online customer targeting firm Touch Clarity, and later sold it to online analytics firm Omniture.

Clients can use Causata's customer experience management (CXM), predictive analytics and machine learning applications with their customer data to personalize offers, promotions and ads. NICE says the acquisition will enable it to offer solutions which will provide 'greater visibility' into a customer's activities on the web, and apply those insights across other touch points such as the contact center.

Causata CEO Paul Wahl (pictured) comments: 'NICE shares our vision for applying advanced technologies to better understand the customer journey in order to address specific customer needs and preferences. We are proud of our accomplishments in the big data analytics domain and are excited to join a large company whose global market presence will enable us to extend the reach of our technologies.'

The acquisition is expected to close in a few days.
