WPP's Xaxis Hires MD for Germany

WPP-owned Xaxis - which links the group's ad buying technologies with a proprietary database containing 'the world's largest pool of audience profiles' - has appointed former Microsoft leader Christian Wilkens as Managing Director for Germany.

Christian WilkensLaunched in 2011, Xaxis uses the database of more than 500 million individuals to target ads across the web, social networking sites, mobile phones and television. From this data, the firm constructs 'Audience Portraits', profiles which include demographic, geographic, purchase and other financial data collected from consumers' web-based activities.

Wilkens (pictured) joins from Microsoft Advertising, where he served as the primary contact with WPP for all its ad businesses. He began his career at Bauer Media Group, where he initially managed German magazine Maxi, and later served as Publishing Manager for Auto Zeitung, as well as Head of Business Development.

In his new role, Wilkens is responsible for Xaxis strategy and operations in Germany, including sales and account management, product, data and insights, and publisher relations and partnerships.
