Opinion Corp Adds Polls to Complaints Web Site

December 17 2013

US market research firm Opinion Corp has added a polling service to its consumer dissatisfaction web site, offering businesses feedback from unhappy customers, and journalists a means of measuring consumer sentiment for their articles.

Opinion Corp Adds Polls to Complaints Web SiteOpinion Corp launched the so-called 'gripe site' pissedconsumer.com in 2009, to offer a platform through which consumers can publish product and service reviews and complaints in a social networking environment. The site also offers a set of tools to help resolve customer disputes, including a consumer complaint letter generator and a collection of tips and advice in a consumer advocacy section.

The new custom consumer polling service can be set to run just on the home page, on a company's profile and review pages, on category pages, or any combination of pages. Polls can be set to show percentages, the total number of votes for each response, or both, and more advanced poll options can also be requested. The firm will evaluate all poll requests and publish any it feels are 'interesting, useful, or relevant'.

Head of Marketing Joanna Simpson says the company wants to make its data more easily accessible for third party analysis: 'We give poll creators a unique perspective by providing a highly specialized audience of customers who are unhappy with various companies, products and services. Businesses can conduct market research to help them better address customer service issues, and journalists can request a poll to gauge consumer sentiments for a story.'
