Attensity Strengthens Senior Team

Data mining and semantic analytics provider Attensity, which announced $90m in equity financing last week, has hired Frank Brown as CFO, Martin Onofrio as Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) and Tommy Hawkins as VP, Development.

Attensity uses patented semantic technologies, analytics and context based discovery to analyze more than 150 million data sources, including Twitter's full 'firehose' raw data stream. The firm, which announced the latest funding at the same time as confirming the expansion of Howard Lau's role from Executive Chairman to encompass CEO, said this week's hires would 'help drive the next stage of the company'. This includes the expansion of the existing product line and development of new technologies.

Brown has more than 25 years' experience in corporate strategy and internal operations in the technology and finance sectors, including positions with IBM Corporation, Andersen Consulting, Oracle Corporation and Lehman Brothers. He also founded investment firm Amber Ventures, working on finance for a variety of privately held technology companies.

Onofrio takes global responsibility for building revenue through sales, and the development of strategic relationships. He worked most recently at commodity management software provider Triple Point Technology, as Vice President Mining & Metals Sales; and before that as VP of sales with venture-backed startups including Blue Martini, KANA Software and SAP.

Hawkins assumes overall responsibility for Attensity's software development, quality and service delivery. His thirty plus years in tech roles include executive positions at startups Informix, MarketFirst, Visigenic and PS'Soft.

Lau pronounces himself 'incredibly proud to be leading this fantastic team' and says the company will 'continue to extend our lead even further into all aspects of brand reputation as well as early detection of business trends, opportunities and threats.'
