Socialbakers Buys Facebook NewsFeed Specialist

June 10 2014

Social media tracker Socialbakers has acquired EdgeRank Checker, a company focused on analysing Facebook's NewsFeed. Terms were not disclosed.

Jan RezabEdgeRank Checker's 700 customers will add almost a third to Socialbakers' client list, and its technology will allow the fast-growing Czech-based firm 'to provide access to full Facebook analytics and social analytics across all platforms, as well as deeper insights into Facebook News Feed performance for brands', the firm said in a statement. With the acquisition comes a team of developers based in the US - Socialbakers' global total of 300 employees are mostly based in Europe, 'though it also opened an Asia Pacific headquarters in Singapore, in February.

Clients of EdgeRank Checker - whose platform helps them optimise their performance on the NewsFeed by measuring content performance by time, industry and location - were told yesterday there would be 'no interruption in service or change of data' but 'a few minor changes to the product, and an upgrade that should improve site speeds and overall performance.' The firm added: 'We're excited to team up with a strong and internationally recognized company like Socialbakers, and we are confident that it will enable you to get even more out of the Facebook News Feed.'

Socialbakers CEO Jan Rezab (pictured) says the buy allows it 'in one stroke' to accomplish its two current key objectives, 'cementing our US footprint and providing brands with entirely new levels of social media insight.'

The company, which closed a $26m Series C financing round earlier this year, is online at www.socialbakers.com .
