BBC Hires North as Director of Audiences

In London, the BBC has appointed GfK's Head of Innovation Nick North to lead its Audiences teams. He will take up the role on 15th September.

Nick NorthNorth (pictured) will join after eleven years at GfK, where he currently serves as Head of Innovation and Global Lead for Media & Entertainment. He previously spent five years as MD of TV ratings specialist Russian Research, where he developed a test system to evaluate viewer and listener appreciation.

In a statement, the BBC said that North will be tasked with ensuring that audience insight and understanding continue to be 'at the heart of everything the BBC does'.

Philip Almond, BBC Director of Marketing and Audiences, comments: 'I'm pleased that Nick will be joining us and bringing his knowledge and experience of innovation and media audience measurement to the BBC. It's important that the service we give to audiences is as good as it can be and Nick will help us to fully represent the voice of the audience in the BBC.'
