Nielsen Hires Privacy Specialist

September 11 2014

In New York, Nielsen has hired former Accenture exec Benjamin Hayes as Chief Privacy Officer, overseeing its global privacy program.

Benjamin HayesHayes (pictured) spent eight years at Accenture in the role of North America Data Privacy Lead. During this time, he launched Accenture's client data protection program and its incident response program, and led the implementation of data loss prevention software. He also led the consultancy firm's approach to managing privacy requirements in cloud computing; provided expertise on privacy laws and practice; and helped technologists embed legal requirements for privacy into IT systems and business processes.

In his new role, Hayes will report to EVP for External Affairs Karen Kornbluh, and work in close collaboration with senior execs including Chief Legal Officer Jim Cuminale and the Legal-Privacy team led by Elise Berkower.

Commenting on the appointment, Kornbluh said: 'Nielsen is committed to vigilantly protecting the privacy and security of the client and consumer information we handle around the world. Ben's knowledge of global privacy regulations and understanding of how best practices interact with developing technologies will certainly help Nielsen continue its proud history of responsible data use.'
