VIA University Builds Student Crowdsourcing Platform

October 23 2014

Denmark's VIA University College has partnered with Canadian crowdsourcing firm Chaordix, to build an innovation community called VIA Connect, through which businesses can hook up with thousands of students, as well as researchers and tutors.

Flemming Binderup GammelgaardAs Denmark's largest university of applied sciences, the College offers a wide range of courses in areas such as health, social education, technology, trade, design, business and animation. Through its new innovation platform, public and private organizations will be invited to share their challenges with 20,000+ community members, who will in turn provide ideas and innovations to solve them.

Concurrently, an educational program is being developed which will give students a working knowledge of concepts and processes such as open innovation, crowdsourcing and crowdfunding.

Chief Consultant Flemming Binderup Gammelgaard (pictured), who directs the project for the College and is also co-founder and Chairman of the Danish Crowdsourcing Association, comments: 'With VIA Connect, VIA University College will become the first institution of higher education and research to develop its own crowdsourcing solution as a long-term commitment to driving collaborative innovation together with partners from across the private and public sectors.'
