Socialbakers Launches Social Media Benchmark

Social media monitoring firm Socialbakers has launched an industry benchmark called the Social Health Index, which it says will provide brands with a single assessment of their social media marketing performance across multiple platforms.

Jan RezabLaunched in 2009, Socialbakers offers services to enable clients to measure the effectiveness of their marketing campaigns across all major social media networks. In the past year, the firm has doubled its headcount from 150 to 300; opened offices in New York, Singapore, Paris and Munich; and completed a $26m Series C financing round.

Developed in partnership with Chinese PC manufacturer Lenovo, the new index traces a brand's social media performance across Facebook, Twitter and YouTube and combines it into one single rating. Brands are scored on four metrics - participation of the social media audience, acquisition of new community members, retention of the brand's audience, and the 'shareability' and effectiveness of content. The rating also measures a brand's current position, to provide brands with insights that will allow them to make real-time adjustments to their mix of social media platforms.
