autoGraph Gets Personalization Patent

October 29 2014

Seattle and London-based personalization technology firm autoGraph has received a US patent for its solution, which offers consumer self-profiling while protecting data privacy.

Henry LawsonFounded in 2011, autoGraph says it can identify as many as 5,500 'dimensions' of an individual - including their age, income, likes and dislikes - enabling businesses to target them with relevant offers across multiple devices. Through its Swote (swipe + vote input) tool, users can pinpoint areas of interest such as brands, TV programs and movies, and generate a personalized interest graph by cross-referencing and analyzing overlaps for each area.

The new patent is for the firm's 'Consumer Self-Profiling GUI, Analysis and Rapid Information Presentation Tools', and covers aspects of the company's profile technology along with the Swote solution. The latter can be used on a touch screen device and allows consumers to indicate personal preferences for culturally relevant images. Inventors include Chairman Tom Huseby, CTO Brian Roundtree, and the company's founding technologists, including Will Munslow, Dave Pratt and Kevin Allan.

CEO Henry Lawson (pictured) comments: 'Receiving our first US patent is a major milestone for autoGraph and something both our inventors and consumers should celebrate. The patent protects both our technology and consumers who can enjoy an open relationship with marketers based on the preferences they want to be marketed to - this has shown to be a genuine win-win for consumers and our clients.'
