Cordes Leaves Repucom in European Restructure

January 23 2015

Sports marketing research group Repucom has commenced a restructure of its business operations in Europe, including the departure by mutual consent of President Europe Marcel Cordes. Meanwhile Alexandre Callay has joined as Global Director Media Research and Content.

Marcel Cordes and Alexandre CallayFounder and CEO Paul Smith will lead the restructuring process, which will see Repucom's various European businesses integrated into a single business unit, with a greater emphasis on the sharing of knowledge, resources and marketing services. In the new structure, Europe will form one of three global operating units.

Existing country-by-country operations will not be changed, including that of the substantial German business which will continue to be led by MD Stephan Schröder.

Cordes says his work as President Europe, a title he assumed following the merger of Sport+Markt and Repucom in 2010, is 'complete'. He joined the company in 1994, and will leave on 31st January, to pursue 'a new professional challenge'. According to Smith: 'Marcel has done an outstanding job for Repucom. He has been key in the transition of our business through the acquisitions and integrations of Sport+Markt, IFM, Sports Marketing Surveys and Immagine & Sport. The fact that we are able to bring about the current restructure speaks to Marcel's contribution. I thank him for his excellent work and wish him continued success and all the best for his professional and personal future.'

Television ratings veteran Callay will initially be based in Paris and report directly to Global COO Jeff Stein. He worked previously as Worldwide Director at Eurodata TV and Key Accounts Director at French audience measurement firm Mediametrie. Prior to this, he worked for six years in Vietnam, Indonesia and Hong Kong.

In his new role, he will provide guidance on sourcing TV ratings and more generally media metrics for Repucom and its clients; and will develop new services based on the firm's databases, for sport and non-sport clients. Smith describes him as 'an outstanding professional who brings a vast wealth of experience as well as an excellent track record of delivering solutions to major players in the industry'.
