Microsoft Buys Mobile Intelligence Firm Datazen

Microsoft has acquired mobile business intelligence (BI), data analytics and data visualization specialist Datazen Software. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Miljan BraticevicDatazen was founded in 2002 and is based in Toronto, Canada. Through the acquisition, Microsoft plans to accelerate its 'Power BI' strategy, to help organizations extract maximum value from data 'from anywhere and any device'. Datazen technology and solutions will be integrated into Microsoft's cloud-based business analytics service, extending its mobile capabilities for customers who need a mobile BI solution that is implemented on-premises and optimized for SQL Server.

Miljan Braticevic (pictured), CEO of Datazen, said in a blog post: 'Our entire product team is thrilled to join Microsoft and help empower millions of people through mobile data analytics. Our team will continue to develop and evolve the product. We have an exciting roadmap and are really looking forward to bringing new features to market.'
