4C Insights Hires Nielsen Veteran as COO

In the US, data science company 4C Insights has hired Nielsen veteran Mark Green as Chief Operating Officer, with a remit to help scale the company's geographic presence, sales, client delivery and product development.

With locations in Chicago, New York, Seattle and Singapore, 4C Insights has developed a platform that collects public social media data and applies proprietary data science algorithms to determine the relationships between people and brands. The firm, which last year secured a $5m Series B round of funding, was founded by Northwestern University professor Alok Choudhary, and officially launched in 2013 through a merger between social media data analyst Voxup and ad and e-commerce specialist The Echo System.

Green (pictured) joins with 28 years of experience in global market research, analytics and consumer insights within the ad industry. Most recently, he was SVP, Product Strategy at TV ad targeting company Simulmedia, prior to which he started the Business Advisory Group to bring together experts in measurement, data, analytics, and engineering to advise companies on data and tech strategies. Before this, he spent nearly twelve years at Nielsen, where he latterly served as SVP, Global Measurement Science Operations Leader, and he earlier led the development of mobile custom research technology and methodologies. Green has also held senior roles at Initiative Media Worldwide, MediaCom and ZenithOptimedia; and he ran the Media Research department of Jordan, McGrath, Case & Taylor.

In his new Chicago-based role, Green reports to CEO Lance Neuhauser, who comments: 'Mark is ideal for 4C, since he has experience running large global operations as well as intimate knowledge of the media ecosystem. As we continue to grow and evolve, Mark will ensure that we are able to scale without compromising the flexibility and innovation that our clients value.'
