JWT Buys Stake in WANDA Digital in Turkey

WPP-owned marcoms network J. Walter Thompson Company has acquired a minority stake in full service agency WANDA Digital in Turkey. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

JWT Buys Stake in WANDA Digital in TurkeyFounded in 2006 and with a team of 80, Istanbul-based WANDA works across the fields of user experience and service design; social media and content strategy; integrated campaign generation; and platform and games and apps development - and also helps clients with digital brand and product strategy. For the year ended 31st December 2014, the firm's unaudited net sales were approximately $3.4m.

Following the transaction, WANDA and J. Walter Thompson's local office - Manajans J Walter Thompson Turkey - will operate independently, but jointly invest in new technology and innovative projects.

In a statement, WPP said Turkey is one of the 'next eleven' growth economies where its companies generate revenues of more than $1.0 billion and employ over 10,000 people. In Turkey itself, the group generates revenue of around $120m and employs around 1,300 staff.
