ABC CEO Jerry Wright Steps Down after Seven Years

June 8 2015

In the UK, the ABC (Audit Bureau of Circulations) has announced that CEO Jerry Wright will be stepping down from the post at the end of 2015, after seven years with the organisation.

Jerry WrightABC is the media industry-owned body that sets standards and verifies both data and processes for multi-platform media brands and intermediaries. Wright (pictured) joined in 2008, after a 25-year career at consumer goods giant Unilever, where he latterly served as Marketing and Innovation Director of Birds Eye Walls, and earlier held senior brand and category roles across a variety of business lines such as detergent, household, personal care and food markets.

For the past seven years he has helped transform ABC from a predominantly print circulation auditor to a digitally-focused media industry standards and verification provider, operating across a wide range of digital and other channels. Under his leadership, the organisation now delivers both multi-platform 'publisher brand' measurement, while also working on brand safety and viewability in digital ad trading. Wright says the time is now right for him to step back and consider his next career move, which will most likely be elsewhere in the media or not-for-profit sectors.

Sally Cartwright, Chairman of ABC since 2010, comments: 'The Board will be sad to lose Jerry Wright, of course, but he is leaving ABC in excellent shape for the future. Having worked closely with Jerry for the last five years, I shall be very sorry to see him go, but he has an excellent, flexible and highly capable team at ABC. His successor, when appointed, will be building on solid foundations to take ABC onwards into the challenging future of media measurement'.
