Spanish-language media group Univision Communications has promoted Roberto Ruiz to the role of Executive Vice President, Strategy and Insights.
The New York City-based company has sixteen broadcast, cable and digital networks; 61 TV stations, and online and mobile apps, products and content creation facilities in Miami, New York and Los Angeles.
Ruiz (pictured) joined in 2008 as VP of Strategy and Insights, leading a team of marketers tasked with helping advertisers and partners better understand and capitalize on the growing US Hispanic population through the use of syndicated and custom research tools. He began his career in a brand management role at Gillette, before holding director-level Hispanic marketing positions at MoneyGram and Prodigy Internet, and then founding Hispanic ad agency The Vidal Partnership. Later, he worked for ZICO Beverages, was MD of Hispanic ad agency La Agencia de Orci, and he set up his own Hispanic marketing consultancy Consumer Contacts.
In his new post, Ruiz will continue to report to Kevin Conroy, Chief Strategy & Data Officer and President, Enterprise Development, and will remain based in New York. Commenting on the promotion, Conroy said: 'Under Roberto's leadership, UCI's Strategy and Insights team has expanded and is today developing breakthrough insights that help our marketing, agency and distribution partners better understand and activate Hispanic consumers'.
