Federated Sample Becomes Lucid

August 19 2015

In the US, sampling automation provider Federated Sample has changed its name to Lucid, which the company says reflects 'explosive growth' in its two primary business units.

Patrick ComerThe New Orleans-based firm was founded in 2010 by former OTX Research executive Patrick Comer (pictured), to create technologies to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of gathering data and intelligence on consumer markets. It now employs more than 80 people, and has asked and received answers to some five billion questions on its Fulcrum sample exchange platform.

Lucid will operate two businesses under its umbrella brand, each with its own sales force and strategy: Federated Sample (managed services) is one; the other is Fulcrum (software licensing), whose SaaS tool can be licensed by clients, allowing them to purchase and sell market research sample directly.

Commenting on the re-brand, Comer says: 'We've taken the leadership position in market research sample and changed the way an entire industry operates; we wanted our brand to reflect where we are now and where we're headed. Our products clarify business issues and processes that have been obscured, and 'Lucid' is the perfect name to summarize what we do'.
