Australian Tourism Insights Firm Opens in US

October 30 2015

Australian firm Local Measure, which provides customer intelligence for the tourism sector, has expanded to the US with an office in Miami. The new office will help local hotels, malls, airlines and attractions extract customer insights from publicly shared social media posts.

Ian-Michael FarkasLocal Measure is based in Darlinghurst, New South Wales and also has offices in Singapore and London. The firm analyses local content and social media, and uses mobile technology to provide clients and brands with live consumer data, content and analytics. Hotel managers, marketers and corporate staff can use its platform to see what customers and influencers are posting about on social media in a specific location, even if the content doesn't mention the brand or location by name.

The new US office is led by Ian-Michael Farkas (pictured), who previously held senior consulting, sales and marketing roles in the travel, hospitality and technology industries, in positions at SiteMinder, the Laissez-faire Group, Business Events Sydney, Effective Media Colombia and Leo Burnett.

Commenting on the expansion, CEO and founder Jonathan Barouch said: 'Bringing Local Measure's solutions to US travel businesses is the next, natural step. We have attracted an unrivalled group of talented experts and advisors and a proven track record of success in Asia Pacific and Europe. Now is the right time to take it all to the States'.
