TVEyes Gets Patent for Social Media Tag Analysis

November 4 2015

Broadcast monitoring specialist TVEyes has been awarded a US patent for a system which extracts social media tags from broadcast TV and Internet video, and makes it possible to search for these tags and measure their social media impact after they appear in video.

David IvesThe firm provides a real-time monitoring platform for television, radio, print and social media that enables users to analyze and distribute national and international media content. It also offers a Media Monitoring Suite (MMS) which sends e-mail alerts the instant a keyword of interest is broadcast.

Designed by a number of the firm's execs, including founder and CEO David Ives (pictured), CTO James Hayter, and Systems Architect David Seltzer, the newly patented system enables licensees to report on the appearance of social media tags, handles and URLs, as well as logos, trademarks, brand names, keywords and phrases within broadcast and Internet video content. Ives says it was previously impossible to monitor or search these media for the vast majority of tag and handle mentions, or analyze and report on their appearance.

TVEyes is currently seeking to license the new patent, along with its patented methods for serving contextually relevant ads.
