App Annie Closes $63m Funding Round

App store analytics firm App Annie has closed a $63m funding round, which it will use to improve and expand its suite of products, and further scale global business operations to meet the needs of app publishers.

Bertrand SchmittApp Annie is used by the developers of more than a million apps to track their performance. Its Store Intelligence product helps clients understand the app ecosystem; Audience Intelligence offers publishers in-depth analysis of app users' demographics, related apps and sentiment data; and the firm also has its own internal Research & Analysis division. The company currently has 425 employees based across its San Francisco HQ and 14 other offices spread across Europe, Asia and North America.

Greenspring Associates led the new round of funding, with additional participation from existing investors e.Ventures, Greycroft Partners, Institutional Venture Partners (IVP) and Sequoia Capital. The latest sum brings the total financing to date to $157m.

CEO and co-founder Bertrand Schmitt (pictured) stated: 'Greenspring's deep experience and knowledge of the space made them a natural choice to lead the round. This funding will allow us to further scale our business, accelerate the development of our industry-leading products and continue to build out brilliant teams that deliver vital data and insights to help develop the global app economy'.
