SurveyMonkey Launches App Insights Product

April 6 2016

US-based DIY research company SurveyMonkey has launched a mobile app insights platform, providing app publishers with data on more than a thousand mobile apps ad well as the overall app economy. The launch follows the acquisition of app data start-up firm Renzu.

Zander LurieThe new product, SurveyMonkey Intelligence, allows app publishers to benchmark key metrics, track competitors, improve due diligence, and discover emerging mobile trends. The tool builds on the work and technology of Renzu, a mobile startup co-founded by Zynga alumni Abhinav Agrawal, Arjun Lall and Jason Tomlinson.

SurveyMonkey Intelligence uses a substantial US-wide sample of Android and iOS users across devices, and adds a new string to the company's bow, aiming to give customers granular data around mobile usage, revenue and churn at the kind of low price point associated with its existing services - including a free option. Paid annual plans begin at $79 per month.

Metrics included are:

  • Usage and retention data, including active users, sessions and time spent, and churn
  • Leaderboards showing the fastest growing apps, the largest by category and leading newcomers
  • the ability to filter by OS and store category, compare and chart rival products
  • audience data including demographics, user base overlap and app affinity; and
  • store data including downloads and revenue.
Agrawal, who joins as VP of the new division, comments: 'Our platform empowers [app publishers] to confidently research what to build next, understand areas for improvement and identify emerging mobile trends'.

SurveyMonkey CEO Zander Lurie (pictured) says of the news: 'Mobile will be the leading platform in which businesses connect with customers. With our acquisition of Renzu and the launch of SurveyMonkey Intelligence, we're removing the barriers of time, difficulty, and cost in getting mobile app data - just as the company did 17 years ago when it established the online survey space and democratized the feedback process'. Of the new arrivals, he comments: 'Abhinav, Arjun and Jason have a proven and deep track record of expertise and leadership in the mobile app space, and we're fortunate to have them leading this new business'.

SurveyMonkey was founded in 1999, has over 600 employees throughout North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific, with headquarters in Palo Alto, CA. Web site: www.surveymonkey.com .
