Nielsen Unveils Ambitious 'Total' Data Solution

Nielsen has launched a new service, the Total Channel Solution, promising its clients the ability to 'unify' all their data sets - proprietary and third party, across multiple platforms - and get 'a full picture view of all factors affecting their business '.

Nielsen Unveils Ambitious 'Total' Data SolutionAvailable now, the open data Solution includes coverage of specialty stores, e-commerce, mass outlets and department stores; and brings customer management and retail measurement metrics together with promotional effectiveness and competitor data, in a single platform, augmenting them by means of models, comparisons and forecasts.

The launch builds on an alliance with software firm 1010data, whose integration platform and big data engine it uses to bridge and integrate Nielsen's data sets and data science expertise.

Nielsen SVP Steve Luebkeman says of the launch: 'We are thrilled to announce this total channel approach for our clients. We understand the complexities of retail fragmentation in today's environment and are constantly identifying and developing solutions to help our clients navigate this landscape. This enhanced offering is another example of that effort and it will bring significant clarity to help our clients understand what is truly happening'.
