Commercial Vehicles Sector Gets New Research Body

June 10 2016

In the US, commercial vehicle association the HDMA has announced the setting up of a new research body as a successor to the Automotive Market Research Council, which was shuttered last December. Past AMRC Chair Adrian Ratza of Hino Trucks will chair the new body.

The HDMA (Heavy Duty Manufacturers Association) is a division of the Motor and Equipment Manufacturers Association. The new industry roundtable will be known as the Commercial Vehicle Research Council (CVRC) and will be comprised of senior market data and research executives from leading HDMA member companies and OEMs in the heavy duty commercial vehicle and off-highway commercial equipment industries, according to www.gobytrucknews.com .

The CVRC will provide a forum for discussion of key trends and issues regarding market data, research and forecasting within the heavy duty commercial vehicle industry. Ratza will be joined by other past AMRC officers including Russell Cox of Peterbilt Motors Co., and Asa Veek of Horton, and says it will 'introduce new elements... while recognizing the rich heritage of the former AMRC'.

Tim Kraus, President and COO of HDMA, says the new body is expected to play 'an important role for all our members, particularly HDMA peer-councils, with its focus on the HDCV and OHV markets', and says it will also support a variety of member-focused HDMA research projects.

The HDMA is online at www.hdma.org .
