Korean Office and Hire for Taptica

Israel-based digital ad platform Taptica has further expanded its Asian offering with a new office in Seoul, adding to a recent launch in Beijing; and has appointed Hoon Lee as General Manager in South Korea.

Hagai Tal, Chief Executive OfficerTaptica, which boasts Nielsen exec Itzhak Fisher among its early investors, was acquired in 2014 by UK-based Marimedia, which now trades on London's AIM. Marimedia has since changed its name to Taptica, and acquired social media marketing technology specialist AreaOne in a deal valued at up to $17m in cash and shares. Last year, it opened an office in New York.

The new Korean office is located in the Gangnam District of Seoul, home to the national offices of the likes of eBay, Google, Alibaba, Facebook and inmobi. Lee brings more than sixteen years' experience of digital advertising, including ten years at Yahoo where he was Head of APAC Search Sales Operations.

The opening should help the firm take advantage of South Korea's rapidly growing mobile ad market, expected to rise by around 30 percent this year. CEO Hagai Tal (pictured) comments: 'This new office in South Korea advances our strategy of increasing our presence in the Asia-Pacific region and I am delighted that we are already gaining traction. We welcome Hoon Lee to Taptica and look forward to benefiting from his significant expertise'.
