August 23 2016

Seattle-based big data visualization and analytics provider Tableau Software has appointed Adam Selipsky as President and Chief Executive Officer, replacing co-founder Christian Chabot who will continue to serve as Chairman of the Board. Several other senior moves have also been announced.

Adam SelipskyTableau's software allows users to connect, visualize and share business intelligence data between a PC and iPad, with no programming skills required. As well as its US HQ, the firm has US offices in Palo Alto, Austin and Washington DC; European bases in London, Dublin, Frankfurt and Paris; and AsiaPac operations in Singapore, Tokyo, Shanghai and Sydney.

Selipsky (pictured) will take up his new position on September 16th, after eleven years as VP of Marketing, Sales & Support for Amazon Web Services (a COO role). Commenting on the appointment, Chabot said: 'Adam's experience in making AWS the world's leading cloud platform, his passion for servicing customers at a global scale, and his authentic team player attitude make him an extraordinary fit for Tableau. He is the right person to lead Tableau to the next stage of growth'.

At the same time Chris Stolte, Tableau's co-founder and Chief Development Officer, will move to the position of Technical Advisor; Andrew Beers will take the leadership of the product development team as Chief Development Officer; and Francois Ajenstat, one of the company's long-time product leaders, has been promoted to a new position as Chief Product Officer, reporting to Beers.
