IoT Analytics Platform Walkbase Expands to US

Finland-based retail IoT analytics and marketing platform Walkbase has expanded to the US, and has appointed location intelligence specialist Kevin Hunter as President of the Americas.

The firm's cloud-based platform gathers data from in-store Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, cameras and point-of-sale material, and combines it with customer relationship marketing and marketing automation tools, to understand customer behaviour and personalise marketing messages.

Hunter joins from location intelligence company inMarket Media, where he served as President, responsible for growth strategy into new verticals. Before that, he co-founded and was COO of location intelligence solution technology firm Gimbal, guiding the company from its incubation within Qualcomm Labs through its spin-off as a private entity from Qualcomm Retail Solutions. In addition, he is co-inventor of 23 US patents in mobile, location and proximity technologies.
