News Readership Measure Launched

February 9 2017

In the US, Bulletin Intelligence has launched a tool called AccuReach, providing a proprietary measure of actual news media readership.

John Shomaker and Paul RoelligThe Reston, VA-based firm provides daily customized intelligence briefings for the White House, a majority of the US Cabinets and agencies, and major corporates, reaching a combined daily audience of more than 1.5 million professionals. Briefings analyse news, social media and industry content, based on clients' priorities including branding, competitive, legal and financial. A set of analytics solutions measures the effectiveness and impact of media coverage on a client's overall brand reputation, on specific brands, and against key competitors; while a team of more than 120 analysts score stories for factors including tone, prominence, and message inclusion.

The new AccuReach solution uses advanced machine-learning algorithms and a test set of more than 840,000 articles to identify the article characteristics that accurately predict actual online readership for individual stories published by both US and worldwide media outlets.

John Shomaker, Bulletin SVP for Data Services says the quant research behind AccuReach clarifies the degree to which specific media outlets, mobile viewership patterns, article lexicons, placement, and several other factors contribute to media readership. CEO Paul Roellig adds: 'We've made a significant investment in our media measurement and analytics assets over the past four years, and we believe AccuReach is the most accurate estimate of individual article readership. This allows us to compile accurate overall metrics for our clients, creating a valuable tool for managing their organization'.
