maslansky + partners Hires P&G Veteran Joe Baumann

February 14 2017

Omnicom-owned MR and strategic consulting firm maslansky + partners (m+p) has hired Procter & Gamble consumer insights veteran Joe Baumann as SVP of R&D and Product Strategy - a newly created role.

Joe Baumannm+p uses cognitive behavioral science to help clients translate corporate speak into language that is 'clear, credible and compelling' for consumers. It then helps clients understand how their audiences process and interpret information, and shows them how certain words and phrases can drive engagement and action. Baumann (pictured) joins after 30 years at P&G, where he specialized in applying cognitive and behavioral science to the process of building brands and developing businesses. In his most recent role, he led the P&G Communication Innovation Research Center and established and led the Behavioral Science Innovation team; having earlier held a number of consumer and market knowledge leadership positions.

At m+p, one of Baumann's first tasks will be to help launch The Language of Trust Model; a proprietary platform integrating academic behavioral science research and decades of emotion-based messages, designed to help communicators develop effective responses to company and brand issues. CEO Michael Maslansky explains: 'To effectively communicate in this post-trust era, clients need to better understand how consumers think and make decisions, and how to turn insights about consumers into language clients can use to achieve business results. We hired Joe to help us turn our decades of collective experience into language strategies that address real business challenges for clients'.
