Media Research Veteran Steve McGowan Joins UCI

Hispanic media giant Univision Communications Inc (UCI) has hired media research veteran Steve McGowan as Senior Vice President, Corporate Research, a role including strategic analysis and support for network management, programming and ad sales.

Steve McGowanMcGowan (pictured) joins from Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) where he served as VP, Research, leading custom and syndicated research, including Nielsen and cross-platform video measurement, and managing a proprietary viewer panel. Before this, he was SVP, Research at Discovery Communications; SVP Insights & Client Research Initiatives at Nielsen; and a Research Associate at the National Association of Broadcasters. Additionally, McGowan has served on various subcommittees for the Advertising Research Foundation (ARF) and Cable Television Association of Marketing (CTAM), and he served two terms as a Board member for American Public Television (APT).

In his new role, McGowan will work closely with industry groups such as the Media Rating Council, and research partners such as Nielsen and comScore. He will report to Jed Meyer, EVP, Corporate Research, who comments: 'Steve has over twenty years of robust industry experience in syndicated research, ad hoc analysis and strategic consulting, including project-level planning on new technologies at several media companies. His expertise will be crucial for UCI as we continue to expand our research initiatives and work to ensure that today's methodologies are representative of the country's changing demographics and inclusive of the US-Hispanic communities we serve'.
