C Space Unveils 'Speak Up Britain' Voter Platform

May 30 2017

Consumer collaboration specialist C Space has launched a study called 'Speak Up Britain', to uncover the concerns driving voter indecision in the run up to the general election.

Phil BurgessAt the core of the new study is an online insight community comprising more than 400 UK citizens, who are already providing real-time reactions to election-related events through user-generated film content. Using this methodology, participants can reflect on how events are shaping their own voting intentions, and the issues that are driving those decisions. To date, the firm has identified four electorate types: The Ambivalents, who no longer feel engaged with the election process; The Emerging Voices, who have been on the fringes of political interest, but are highly engaged around specific topics; The Undecideds, whose political allegiances swing; and The Steadfasts, who know exactly who they are voting for and why.

Alongside the community, C Space has put together a specialist documentary team, which gathers face-to-face public perspectives in three parliamentary constituencies: Plymouth Sutton and Devonport in Devon, Croydon Central in Greater London, and Morley and Outwood in Yorkshire. After the election, the company will run immersive co-creation experiences to explore potential implications of this project.

Joint MD (EMEA) Phil Burgess (pictured) states: 'Through the Speak Up Britain community we are hearing stories of profound indecision, deep lack of trust, voter fatigue, cynicism and apprehension. Whilst the news reports the loudest, most polarized opinions on a rolling cycle, we think there is space for something different - for empathy, for looking beyond the headlines, for understanding people's hopes and fears and telling the human stories behind the election as events unfold.'
