Genius Digital Sells Real-Time Insight Assets

Content and revenue protection firm Verimatrix has acquired the MiriMON real-time insight technology and development team from UK-based GfK company Genius Digital, with whom it will remain partners.

MiriMON, a part of TV viewer data specialist Genius Digital since 2012, offers insight on service quality and customer experience via live dashboards for digital TV and streaming media services - while its analytics tools also help to optimise content scheduling and analysis. Genius Digital itself is majority-owned by GfK.

The technology is already integrated within two of Verimatrix's downloadable app packages: Verspective Operator Analytics solution suite and ViewRight Ultra, and the company says the acquisition will allow a closer alignment, and full control over future development of both the data collection technology and dashboards.

The buy gives Verimatrix a new core analytics engineering team, to be based in Bristol, UK. The two firms will continue to work to expand the applications for Genius Digital's Insight and Analytics services. Verimatrix CEO Tom Munro says the buy is 'a natural addition' to the firm's Operator Analytics solution, adding: 'We see the real-time client data as a key piece to help our customers gain a holistic picture of how their services are performing and how subscribers are interacting with those services'. For Genius, CEO Tom Weiss comments: 'We are convinced that data security will be key to enabling the data-driven pay-TV operator and we are delighted that our data collection technology will continue to be integrated as part of the Verspective Operator Analytics suite'.
