AKQA Buys Danish Digital Strategy Agency DIS/PLAY

WPP-owned ideas and innovation company AKQA has acquired Denmark-based digital strategy, creativity and technology specialist DIS/PLAY for an undisclosed sum.

Steffen Blauenfeldt OtkjærFrom offices in Copenhagen and Aarhus, DIS/PLAY provides brand strategy and analysis, creativity and content, user experience testing, market and target group analysis, design and technical development solutions. The agency employs a team of more than 110, and for the year ended 31st December 2016, revenues were DKK 105m (£13.1m).

Steffen Blauenfeldt Otkjær (pictured), DIS/PLAY CEO, says meeting with the AKQA team and its CEO Ajaz Ahmed proved that the two companies are a 'natural fit'. 'At DIS/PLAY, we have great faith in who we are, what we do, and the way we do it. However, this new partnership is like Real Madrid signing you to play in the Champions League, on a team with some of the most talented people in the digital industry. Naturally, we're incredibly excited about the opportunities this will create for our clients and team'.
