Verisk Hires Former Nasdaq CFO

US data firm Verisk Analytics, Inc. has appointed former Nasdaq CFO Lee M. Shavel as EVP and Chief Financial Officer. SVP Eva Huston will depart 'to pursue opportunities outside the company' after a three-month handover period.

Verisk Hires Former Nasdaq CFOVerisk is headquartered in Jersey City, NJ and operates in 29 countries. The group offers predictive analytics and decision support to clients in the energy sector and others. It bought Edinburgh-based research and consulting company Wood Mackenzie for £1.85 billion in cash in March 2015 and has since been busy with acquisitions, including chemicals sector data firm The PCI Group, electricity and renewables specialist Greentech Media, business from Quest Offshore Resources, mapping and geospatial consultancy The GeoInformation Group and Danish wind and solar power market intelligence and advisory business MAKE, as well as divesting its healthcare services division for $820m.

Shavel was EVP and CFO at the Nasdaq exchange from 2011 to 2016, and has spent 28 years in financial services. Prior to Nasdaq he spent eighteen years at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, in roles including MD and Americas Head of Financial Institutions Investment Banking. He is currently a board director and Chairman of the Audit Committee of Investment Technology Group, Inc. He holds a B.A. in English from the University of Pennsylvania, and a B.S. in economics from the Wharton School of Finance.
