In the UK, former ORC International exec Sam Dawson has launched a business called The Engaged Culture Company, which will focus on building employee engagement strategies, helping clients source engagement survey platforms, and measuring 'what matters' through pulse surveys.
Dawson (pictured) has a background in organisational psychology and twenty years' experience, working in the employee engagement space in the UK and Australia, leading engagement and survey programmes globally. He initially spent eight years as a Senior Consultant in ORC International's Employee Research Division, before joining the Hay Group in 2006. Here he became Director & Head of Insight Business UK at Korn Ferry Hay Group, leading the employee engagement research and consulting line.
His new firm has been launched with the aim to 'make work a better place', through a trio of focuses: 'Spark' - designing and establishing people listening and engaged culture strategy; 'Grow' - developing manager capability; and 'Pulse' - measuring employee engagement, the culture and the employee experience at work. Through its network of employee engagement specialists, the company promises to help design survey questionnaires that get 'right to the heart' of engagement and culture in an organisation; and run a variety of development programmes designed to grow an engaged culture for the workforce. It will then help interpret the results of the employee survey, train managers to understand the data and design an action plan, present the data to internal stakeholders, and run the 'pulse' surveys to establish a baseline for engagement.
Commenting on the launch, Dawson said: 'Most organisations fall into the trap of measuring levels of engagement infrequently, trying to action plan (often not very well) and then reverting back to even more measurement. I am really excited that I am now in the position to help organisations develop that engaged culture for themselves, and to help engagement run naturally through the veins of every organisation I work with'.
