Ipsos Oncology Studies Roll Out in China

September 6 2018

Ipsos has rolled out its syndicated Lab Mapping Study and Oncology Molecular Diagnostics Monitor (MDx) in China, promising a comprehensive picture of the oncology biomarker testing landscape across the region's tier I and tier II cities.

Pieter De RichterThe Lab Mapping Study - which is already available in the US, EU5 and Australia - surveys a large number of laboratory managers / managers to gain insights into areas such as the resource allocation of labs involved with oncology biomarker testing and cancer sample flow between different types of hospital and commercial labs. In addition, it uncovers the barriers and drivers around insourcing and outsourcing of biomarker testing. For China, the flow of samples both within and between provinces, as well as to other countries, will be mapped; and the study will also help identify the laboratories that are considered to be the top commercial and non-commercial labs for oncology biomarker testing in the country.

The Oncology MDx Monitor complements the Lab Mapping Study by adding the viewpoint of cancer-treating physicians and pathologists, and collecting real world evidence on how individual cancer patients and biopsy samples are being tested in the clinical setting. This includes a detailed look at the types of biopsies used, the split by methodology and test brand for each of the biomarkers tested, turnaround time and testing location. For this initial wave of the study, the focus will be on non-small cell lung cancer, with other cancer types to be added in future waves of the research.

Pieter De Richter (pictured), Head of Ipsos' Real World Evidence Portfolio in Asia Pacific, Middle East & North Africa, says the studies provide 'a multi-stakeholder view of the very complex and highly heterogeneous laboratory landscape across a range of major cities in China', and comments: 'With the expansion of these studies to China, pharmaceutical companies and molecular diagnostics manufacturers will be able to gain a comprehensive insight into how these changes are impacting this key Asian market'.
